hi its self ship ramble time-mercury had newly moved into her little apartment in eterna city, sinnoh. she didn't really know anyone yet, but she'd often spend time walking around the city.-one evening, mercury found herself gazing at eterna city's legendary pokemon statue. she got lost in her thoughts, wondering what the pokemon depicted was like, when suddenly they realized that they weren't the only one there. there was an oddly dressed man standing a short distance from her, also studying the statue.-she greeted him, starting a conversation about the statue. the man's stoic expression didn't shift as he responded. he knew a lot about the history, and mercury was intrigued.-at some point their conversation changed; the man, who had introduced himself as cyrus, asked how she felt about spirit. mercury responded, and their conversation shifted into a sort of deep philosophical type.-they talked for a long time, only stopping when mercury realized how late it had gotten. as they said goodbye, mercury promised theyd talk again! aaaand when she got home she realized she didn't exchange numbers or anything. oops-but this wouldn't be their only meeting. they continued to run into each other; sometimes in the eterna city area, sometimes elsewhere in the sinnoh region. they'd talk like they did the first time. mercury was fascinated with him, and hoped she'd keep running into him-upon one of their meetings, cyrus invited mercury to join team galactic. she was excited and accepted.-the next day, she went to the hq. that's when she met the other admins. though initially intimidated by them, they soon became close friends.-cue mercury's new daily life of working as an admin, helping with team galactic's schemes, and crushing on cyrus lol. this era is when she really started developing feelings, and man did those feelings hit hard. they claimed that their feelings weren't that obvious, but they in fact, were obvious. she'd get flustered and nervous around him, to which the other admins would tease her.-however, it wasn't just mercury developing these feelings. cyrus found her fascinating. it started with him just wanting to talk with her, to realizing that he liked the time he spent with her. as these feelings developed, cyrus had sort of an internal struggle. he hated spirit and emotion, but there was something about mercury... something about their spirit that was different. something brilliant and captivating. he went through inner turmoil, feeling angry at mercury for making him feel. after mercury continued to spend time with him, he softened up. not yet ready to admit his feelings, but no longer upset with them. mercury. did not pick up on these shifts though. aside from his stoic nature, she was just generally bad at reading people. she thought her feelings were unrequited.-the amount of time they'd spend together increased-- mercury would stay late to help him with projects and stuff. they were just two mutually pining awkard little nerds lol.-but they both knew things wouldn't stay like this. team galactic was working towards cyrus's dream of a new world. mercury was internally sad, and wished he'd change his mind on it. but, she was glad to help him. cyrus, likewise, was somewhat saddened that he would probably not see mercury again- at least, not the mercury he'd come to know. but, he was so close to creating his perfect world, he wasn't about to stop now.-things stayed like this right up until the final phase of the plan was to be put into motion. the closer they got, however, the more melancholy things seemed to get between the two.-and then, it happened. the two legendary dragons were summoned. cyrus had control of them, and was going to create his new world. giratina appeared, taking cyrus with it to the distortion world. the trio of young trainers who had come to stop cyrus's plan as well as cynthia followed into the distortion world. the admins who were at the site (mars, jupiter, and mercury) were shocked. mars and jupiter tried to stop mercury from following, but she jumped into the distortion world after them.-it took mercury some time to catch up with everyone else. by the time she did, the final battle between the protag(s?) and cyrus had ended. this is when mercury stepped in. she had a heart to heart moment with him. this is a much bigger moment in my head but im so braindead rn and i dont feel like writing a whole fic. its a very tense very vulnerable sort of heart to heart. call me cheesy but this is the first time they had a directly romantic encounter. mercury confessed her feelings, and he hugged her, which doesnt sound all that big but for the two of them this was huge. cyrus realized his plans had been stopped, but mercury convinced him to come back to the normal world with them.-from there, they returned to the normal world. the legendary pokemon were set free. team galactic was not disbanded, more halted all operations.-cynthia, mercury, and cyrus worked out a deal where he could remain free (because i Think attempting to destroy the universe is a jailable offense) but mercury and cynthia (every now and then) would keep an eye on him to make sure he wasnt ya know. Scheming. but after the events that had transpired with the failure of his plan, cyrus had fallen into a depressive episode. mercury helped him through this time.-this part of my ramble is going to become particularly more rambly because 1. this part isnt as concrete in my head as the earlier ones and 2. ive been working on this for So Long im losing steam.-from there, they begun officially dating. id like to think that team galactic was rebuilt as what they were originally calling themselves-- an energy company working towards new and efficient energy sources. this was of course, heavily overseen by sinnoh officials as well as cynthia and the new champion-cyrus stays the ceo of the company, mercury helps around sometimes but doesn't full time work there. she continued to be a pokemon trainer as well. also a few years later, they get married because hehhehehasfljhfjheje yess-ok ive run out of things to say i think. anyways i care them so mcuh
